Hittin' The Gym With Tiffany!
Do you like to workout? Do you know how important it is to exercise daily? Studies have shown that working out daily not only helps to improve your body physically but mentally as well. I know what you're thinking; it can be a little intimidating to start getting into a routine. BUT - there are LOTS of fun ways to get exercise. I’ve been going to the gym since I was 16 and the benefits are totally worth it. Working out makes me feel like I’m doing something good for MYSELF. Some of the things I do to stay active are running, (whether it is outside or at the gym), and yoga - which is a great addition to any high-intensity workout. The stretching does amazing work for the body and it gives you the time to breathe and relax.
Yoga is great exercise and has spiritual and mental benefits too.
I’ve been doing yoga for like 9 years and it’s made my body a lot stronger. I like to do cardio at the gym because it helps to make me feel more productive throughout the day. I feel like I can concur the world after a great run! In my opinion, I would suggest that you work out 3 x a week at the least if you're just starting out. Even if it's just 30 minutes a day, you'll start to see changes.
Working out at home doesn’t really work for me. I’m more motivated in classes. But for you, the opposite may be true. If you're more comfortable working out at home, YouTube has a TON of great at-home videos that are easy to navigate and follow.
I would suggest if you’re new to working out, start with a 3-minute workout at home. Pushups or crunches just to put the effort in. I used to only do 15 mins on the elliptical now I’m up to 45 or an hour.
I also like to work out with other people that motivate me. For example, I love partnering with my friend Charles when we go for a run! Exercise isn’t just an activity to me, it’s a lifestyle. I try to squeeze in exercise whenever I can. Whether its weight loss you’re going for or just improving your wellbeing, exercise is beneficial.
Eating healthy is also important. I try to integrate a lot of fruits and veggies into my diet (well, when I’m being good.) exercise and eating right goes hand in hand. If you’re trying to lose weight, it’s smart to have a good diet. Getting enough protein is important as well as eating right. I am in the transition of going vegan, which I recommend. I eat well for the most part, but I could definitely add more fruits and veggies into my diet. If you want to be your own superwoman, hit the gym and be conscious of what you’re eating.
When I’m at the gym sometimes I forget that I have the ability to lose weight. I'm in the zone and just focusing on "me time." I was 210 lbs. last year and now I’m down to 180. It feels good not to feel “fat” and chunky. I love my body today and am constantly working on improving it.
Give yourself credit for any exercise and healthy eating that you do and enjoy yourself in the process!
